Raymond Lam (Lam Fung) and Leila Tong (Tong Ling) are two of the most talented young actresses in Hong Kong. Although they haven't worked in too many features with each other - in fact, there has only been one - a casual viewer cannot deny the chemistry they seem to have on-screen in their sole project, The Last Breakthrough. Some even agree that out of the entire 30-episode series, Raymond and Leila's relationship together was very natural and very well-acted compared to the more prominent relationship between their co-stars, Nick Cheung and Sonija Kwok.Dr. Albert Wong Po Fun (Nick Cheung) joins "Life Force", an international medical humanitarian organisation, to carry out the unfulfilled wish of his deceased girlfriend, Tung (Gigi Leung). He also sets up "Lung Shing Medical Centre" to help the poor.What's more, after filming this series in Africa and various other places, both Raymond and Leila remained as friends even though it's been a few years since their last collaboration together. Hopefully TVB will assign another drama for them to work together again!
When Dr. Wong Po Fun is working with the organization in Kenya, he meets a young doctor called Ken Chai Pak Hang (Raymond Lam), who works at a private hospital named "Ling Siu" in Hong Kong. Influenced by Fun, Ken joins "Lung Shing" later. Hong Kiu (Sonija Kwok), a nurse at "Lung Sing", is impressed by Fun's principle of putting patients first and develops feelings for him. However, Fun cannot get over Tung. Meanwhile, Ken meets a volunteer Ha Hiu Ching "Ching Ching" (Leila Tong) when he is in Africa and takes an interest in her. When they meet at "Lung Sing" again, Ching Ching tries to stray away from Ken because of the existence of Yoyo Go Siu Yau (Sharon Chan), who comes from a wealthy family, and who is also a patient of Ken.
Working with Fun at both "Lung Sing" and "Life Force", Ken learns that apart from giving patients medical treatments, doctors should also help patients to live a meaningful life. However, when Ken and Fun face their own challenges, they feel weak and helpless...
